When trying to handle depression, focus on your diet and increase your complex carbohydrates. If you do not have an adequate amount of complex carbohydrates in your diet, your serotonin can become depleted. If you are anxious about social interactions, try just going to a movie with a friend. This places you in a social situation, but you won’t have to extensively socialize with others. It also helps you feel comfortable around crowds.

Eliminate any disorganization in your life. Organization will make you feel good about yourself, and make you feel confident. Additionally, your life will be less stressful because you no longer have to deal with disorganization. Having everything in its own place instills a calming energy.

It is important to know yourself and accept who you are as a person. Treat yourself as you would treat a dear friend–generously, kindly and honestly.
